U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary Div 5, 1 NR

Division 5 - The Hub Division

Announcement

September 8, 2005

Dear Fellow Auxiliarists,

I am sure you are aware of the devastating catastrophe resulting from Hurricane Katrina throughout the Gulf Coast area of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. We see the heroic efforts of many members of our Coast Guard family, many performing valiantly despite the serious personal impacts upon themselves and their families.

Our Auxiliarists as well as the active duty, reserve and Coast Guard civilian employees within the area are dramatically impacted by their own personal devastation to their own homes and personal property. They are displaced and are in critical need of our assistance to help them sustain themselves and their families then begin the rebuilding of their lives. They need our full support at this time more than ever.

Please strongly consider providing assistance for our members and other Coast Guard family members at this time of need. The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, as a 501(C) 3 Non-profit corporation is acting in our behalf by establishing a Disaster Relief Fund for our victims of this catastrophe.

We initiated Operation Life Ring as a means to allow our members and others to contribute to this effort. You will find information on Operation Life Ring on our National Website and information on how you may make contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund. Just click on the Operation Life Ring link and it will take you to a page with information on how you may contribute, whether through online contributions or sending your contributions by other means to the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Center, 9449 Watson Industrial Park, St. Louis, MO 63126. One hundred per cent (100%) of your tax-deductible donation will go directly to our Coast Guard Auxiliary/Coast Guard family victims of Katrina.

Gene M. Seibert
